Each student's plan evolves through 6-12 learning experiences--both in and out of school-- that support employability skills, career awareness, exploration, planning and training. There are developmental goals and learning experiences planned for each grade level.
K - 5th Grade - Know
Guidance Lessons focus on careers in February including guest speakers, career clusters and career paths
Visit the fire station
Learn about service, volunteer and trade jobs
First grade parents invited in to talk about their occupation
Learn about the importance of being a good citizen
6th Grade- Know
Academic- grades checked weekly; extra curricular activities; RtI and academic help.
Career- Career interest and learning styles taught by school counselor. Employment skills taught through daily expectations.
7th Grade- Know and Explore
Academic- grades checked weekly; extra curricular activities; RtI and academic help.
Career- Career Cruising, interest exploration, begin to explore post secondary schools. Employment skills taught through daily expectations.
8th Grade- Explore and Plan
Academic- grades checked weekly; parent/guardian high school information night; extra curricular activities; RtI and academic help; high school graduation requirements reviewed
Career- Career Cruising exploration of careers and post secondary schools; English classes have a career exploration unit. Guidance lessons focus on 7 habits of Healthy Teens; 8th Grade Career Day at WITC. Employment skills taught through daily expectations.

9th Grade- Plan and explore
Academic- individual course scheduling guidance sheet and meetings as needed; CTE and elective courses; transcript review; extra curricular activities; RtI and academic help; Aspire test.
Career- job application; mock interviews; community service hours; career exploration in selected courses; campus visit
10th Grade- Plan and explore
Academic- individual course scheduling conferences; semester meetings with counselor; CTE and elective courses; extra curricular activities; RtI and academic help. Aspire test.
Career- Work experience encouraged; aide experience; service learning; career exploration in selected courses; campus visit
11th Grade- Plan and explore
Academic- individual course scheduling conferences as requested; ASVAB test; ACT prep workshops; ACT; WorkKeys; extra curricular activities; RtI and academic help; college credit courses available; CTE and elective courses.
Career- Campus visits; College Fairs; apprenticeship fair; teacher's aide experience available; career exploration in selected courses; college and military rep visits.
12th Grade- Plan and Go!
Academic- individual course scheduling conferences; fall and semester meetings with counselor available; CTE and elective courses; extra curricular activities; RtI and academic help.
Career- Career (Work) Based Learning; service learning; aide experience; campus visit; FAFSA; letters of recommendation; scholarship and general resume; scholarship application; college application; college placement tests; submit necessary college enrollment requirements; schedule college registration; Mad City Money experience
