Hello! I live in Linn Grove with my husband (and Sioux Central grad) Ryan, and have 3 daughters: Elise (Class of '23) & Jacob (Class of '22) are parents to my adorable grandkids Luke and Abigail, Kaitlyn (Class of '25), and Natalie (Class of '27). I grew up in New Mexico, attending K-6th grade there, before moving to Iowa, where I graduated from Alta High School. I then attended and graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, where I majored in Elementary Education, minoring in Theatre and Speech, with endorsements in Reading and Secondary Education.
Previous to Sioux Central, I taught 3rd grade at St. Mary's in Storm Lake. While choosing to stay home with my girls when they were little, I stayed active at Sioux Central, coaching Large Group Speech, directing the Fall Musical, and subbing for Elementary - High School classes. In 2012 I joined Sioux Central as the Title Math teacher and Basketball Cheer coach, and in 2013 I moved to the 4th-grade classroom, where I taught for 6 years. I've loved reading anything I can get my hands on for as long as I can remember, so decided to start a new adventure as the Middle School Reading teacher in 2019. I also coach Football Cheerleading, Large Group Speech, and am Prom Sponsor.
I will do everything I can to make sure every child has a safe learning environment to grow during the year, as well as provide every opportunity for them to learn in a style that best fits their individual needs. I believe every child is capable of learning and growing during our year together and will encourage them to become their very best.
Besides spending time with my family, I love to read, garden, play games, and craft. I also enjoy judging High School Speech competitions on the weekends that don't conflict with family events. Go Rebels!
