This an annual nationwide video contest in which kids create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery-winning books in about 90 seconds.
All ages can participate and adult help is totally OK.
The best movies are screened in showings at libraries and theatres nationwide.

The film should talk about an environmental/sustainability problem and then discuss what could be a potential solution to this problem.
Entry must focus on one or several of the following topics
Climate
Energy
Food
Transportation
Waste
Water
Wildlife and Ecosystems

Inspires students around the world to learn about environmental issues though art and creative communication.
Students can participate either individually or as a group of any size.
Offers multiple art categories including Film and Performing Arts.
Can submit one entry per art category.
The entry period is from September until June of following year.
The 2026 Ocean Awareness Contest theme is "Your Story, Our Ocean: How Our Ocean Sustains, Protects and Inspires Us".
