The Capstone Experience at Simsbury High School supports students as they pose, investigate, and share what they are learning about an important question, problem, or creative objective. SHS's "multiple pathways" approach to Capstone allows students to choose from course-supported, student-designed, and experiential options. Students are encouraged to make a choice that best matches their strengths, knowledge, skills, and interests. Successfully completing Capstone helps students approach future challenges in college, at work, and in the community with greater confidence.

Capstone is intended to be a culminating educational experience for students in grades 11 or 12. Capstone projects both rely on and expand students' prior knowledge and skills. A year-long "Capstone Experience" is required for graduation for all students.
