Voting Rights & Health Equity

The MPH@Simmons community understands the important connection between civic participation and health. When more people vote, the inequity gap shrinks and health outcomes improve! HERE4Justice organized a campaign to raise awareness about the link between voting and health equity and to get out the vote for the 2022 Midterm elections.

We Brought Together People Concerned about Voting Rights

With increasingly fraught democratic processes, how do we maintain momentum between election cycles?

HERE4Justice held a community discussion and reflection to talk about voter engagement and expanding the franchise between now and the 2024 election.

Thanks to everyone who attended!

We Set a Goal to reach 1000 voters!

With Center for Common Ground, we're working to fight back against voter suppression. We've sent postcards with with details about how and where to vote to Black and Brown voters in Virginia, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina which all have histories of voter suppression.

We're wrote about voter (dis)enfranchisement

The MPH@Simmons community will be sharing their experiences, insights, and analysis about voting, voter suppression and health equity. Blogs will cover many topics related to voting rights and civic participation and will highlight implications for public health and health equity.

We raised money!

If you can't write postcards or write a blog, please consider donating to our campaign! Donations cover the costs of purchasing postcards from the printer, stamps, labels to relay district-specific information, and the cost to mail postcard packets to volunteers. We'll donate any funds remaining at the end of the campaign to Center for Common Ground.
