School On Wheels - For students experiencing homelessness
Schedule changes may be made for the following reasons only:
1. You are missing a class.
2. If you have two of the same class.
3. If you need to change a class level (general to honors).
4. You want to change your elective. (note: elective choices are not guaranteed, they are subject to availability)
5. You previously failed course with same teacher.
We cannot honor requests to change a schedule for:
1. Specific and/or different teachers,
2. Switch order of classes or
3. Requests to be with a friend.
*Changing electives can only happen IF there is room available in the elective classes, but please keep in mind students are placed in electives according to their selections during registration. No elective changes can be made mid-semester.
TEACHER CHANGES
Before any change is considered, there must be a conference between the teacher and parent/guardian to address any concerns. This provides the teacher the opportunity to collaborate with families to best support their student.
Please note: Adhering to the above policy means that a change will be considered, not that a change will be made. If you have further questions, please contact your Counselor or Assistant Principal.
Check your grades at least twice a week on AERIES.
Check your assignments daily on Google Classroom.
Use your agenda book (keep track of homework, project deadlines, upcoming tests, events, sports practice, etc.)
Set a "study space"
Have all your material in front of you: lecture notes, course textbooks, study guides and any other relevant material.
Don’t try to do all your studying the night before the test. Instead space out your studying, review class materials several times a week, focusing on one topic at a time
Take short breaks frequently. Your memory retains information that you study at the beginning and the end better than what you study in the middle.
Review/re-write notes
Make flashcards on Quizlet
Create a Kahoot! (interactive game-based learning program)
Use Khan Acacdemy (expert created content and resources for every subject)
Ask a friend/parent to quiz you
If you choose to study in a group, only study with others who are serious about the test.
Re-do homework problems as practice
Organize your backpack weekly
Pack your backpack (check for assignments you're turning in) the night before
Independent Study in Physical Education (ISPE) is an educational option designed by the California. Department of Education (CDE) and approved by the Simi Valley Unified School District (SVUSD). ISPE affords students the opportunity to extend physical education learning activities beyond the school campus and regular school hours. ISPE allows the student advanced study in activities not normally available in the District’s physical education program. ISPE must be a significantly different program that involves an activity in which the applicant has become highly competitive at a state, regional, or local level.
