World Languages at Royal
The World Language department consists of four different languages: Spanish, French, Mandarin, and American Sign Language. The courses offer varying levels from beginner to advanced as well as for Spanish Heritage Speakers. In the advanced level courses, students are encouraged to take the AP test. If students receive a passing score on the AP test, they can receive college credit for the language class. Each class focuses on the four modes of communication: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking while also diving into the culture and history of the target language. All of the language courses meet the A-G requirement for completing two years of a language other than English needed for admission to the UC and CSU systems.
Department Chairpersons: Ms. Niccole Bishop and Ms. Jessica Fancett
