This manual is designed for training community leaders that choose to begin literacy programs in their mother tongue in their local communities. SIL online Advocacy Training is now available from SIL Training for SIL and WGA staff who are interested in learning more about external advocacy in our contexts. The cost is $15 for SIL staff, and $25 for WGA staff. Example modules include Advocacy principles and practices as well as Advocacy in SIL.

These videos give brief overviews of several topics related to writing systems or orthography. The intended audience is those whose native language is not English. These are suitable for initial training, and most are about 15 minutes long.  Crucial Issues in Orthography Development 

Access to the SIL Hub for online courses requires a “license” which costs $15 annually and is usually included in the course fees. Course fees for SIL members/staff are relatively small; those for WGA affiliates are somewhat higher. You can view courses offered on the SIL Hub without the license by going to SIL Hub. Once there, click on the Browse for Training link toward the upper right to view the course catalog. 

NOTE: Members and staff (SIL and WGA affiliates) should NOT register for courses through this pathway – it is for people external to SIL. If you find a course you want, contact Cornerstone Admin Intl for assistance to access the course.
