Dictionary & Lexicography Services Courses
February 11, 2026: “In 2024, I was preparing and looking for a good website to help me understand FLEx and to train community teams on dictionary creation...I decided to take LEX101 and LEX201 myself...This training was a big help and added great value to my work as a Language Technology Consultant. Since then, the Dictionary and Lexicography training website has become my daily companion. I use it for both beginner and advanced FLEx trainings. It also helps me grow in my linguistic knowledge and serve communities better in their dictionary or Lexicography project.” — Etienne Ondoa, Language Technology Consultant, CABTAL
February 10, 2026: “I used the Dictionary & Lexicography Services LEX101 course during a training I led from 6–8 December 2022 for officials from Addis Ababa University who were members of the Ethiopian Languages Academy. They were preparing to develop the Oromoo Cultural Dictionary and were new to FLEX. The structure, clarity, and practical orientation of the materials were extremely helpful — both for the participants and for me as the facilitator. The site provided an accessible pathway into the concepts and tools, enabling the team to engage confidently and begin applying FLEX effectively.” — Musie Menna, IT Director, SIL Ethiopia
November 3, 2025: “The most important thing I want to convey is my extreme gratitude to you and the whole course team, the Webonary team and the FLEx team for creating such an amazing resource. FLEx is so powerful that it really requires detailed instructions, and the LEX courses fully meet that need. It's obvious that it took countless hours to prepare such detailed and thoughtful work.” — Khema
October 13, 2025: “You were absolutely right—the issue was indeed related to the view selection during the upload process. After carefully working through lesson LEX101 D10: Publish on Webonary, everything became clear, and I was able to resolve the problem. The lesson was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the necessary steps.”

February 14, 2024: “Yes, thanks for asking – the course is going very well. It’s already filled in several things that are really helpful. Naturally there are some sections that I’ve been able to gloss over more swiftly because I’m already familiar with that material. Currently, I’ve finished working through D9 More Configuration Basics. That is absolutely what I’ve been in need of. But then, having said that, I now see that I will have to go over that lesson once more – there’s only so much that you can assimilate in a first exposure. Subentries and Minor entries are really tricky.” — Tim Raymond
