ICT Services regularly organises webinars. We alternately hold informal discussion meetings, themed discussions and training meetings aimed at addressing recurring issues that technicians experience across different locations in Africa, such as unreliable power, internet connectivity, and hardware obsolescence. Our webinars provide timely opportunities to come together to share and discuss current issues and problems.
Our informal discussions meetings are an open time to talk and share about our challenges
They are not restricted to one topic, but rather an opportunity to hear and learn from one another. Through those meetings we aim to foster a community and form a network of IT professionals that can help and support each other.
Themed discussions are centered around a specific topic prepared by an expert. Past topics included: "IT maintenance - tips and tricks", "Experiences of mentoring", "Installing Office 2024", "Organizing work in the IT office" etc. The discussions are guided but everyone is encouraged to participate, to share their experiences and questions, providing an interactive, peer-learning-oriented session.
Training webinars focus on skill enhancement and are an opportunity to learn from field experts. They consist of a teaching part as well as an implementation or discussion time, facilitating discovery through active learning. Some examples of past trainings include: "Google calendar", "Experiences of using AI - writing good prompts and saving time", "Rustdesk remote support software", "Using Windows Sandbox".
We thrive to adapt and improve our services in today's changing technological context but we cannot do this alone. The choice of discussion and training topics is made in consultation with the technicians to stick to their center of interest and is inspired by discussions by the IT Discovery Team. We invite you to join our community and share your experience with us. If you would like to join our community or suggest a topic for one of our meetings, please contact us.
All our training webinars are recorded and available online. Contact us to receive the link to the public meeting agenda including links to the recorded videos!
