Mentoring is not something extra in your busy schedule. It is an aid in your current work.
We currently have a dozen trained mentors mentoring thirty mentees from SIL and Alliance organizations. Mentoring is an intentional and caring relationship designed to encourage and equip you to achieve the goals that are important to you and your organization.
Each mentoring relationship is based on a formal agreement between the mentee, the mentor, and their supervisors. This agreement will describe the objectives of the relationship.
The supervisor endorses the Relationship and ensures that both the mentees and their mentors have enough time in their work schedule to manage the mentoring relationship and that they have the necessary means to achieve the objectives defined in the agreement.
Mentors and mentees meet regularly and frequently, either face-to-face or remotely, to take stock of the objectives.
Being a mentee is not a passive role. Mentees are expected to take the initiative in the mentoring relationship. They are responsible for their own learning and decide the topics they want to discuss and the goals they want to achieve.
Mentoring is a good system for ensuring you can develop your gifts.
It encourages your continuous professional and personal growth
It helps overcome the limitations of traditional training
It leads to transformation and improves the quality of your work
Launching in 2026!
Competency Based Certification, short CBC, is a web-based system that provides a framework for consultant skills development. Starting in 2026 we are implementing it for IT training, enabling IT professionals to manage their personalized learning paths. CBC facilitates the acquisition and development of skills; it offers learning activities that IT professionals can navigate with the support of their mentors. We created the https://www.africaitresources.net IT resource site for use with CBC as a collaborative source of information
Our Mentoring program is approved by the leadership of SIL Africa in consultation with the leaders of Wycliffe Global Alliance.
