Early Intervention services are available in Illinois for children from birth to age three who demonstrate a developmental delay or who are diagnosed with a developmental disability. These services are accessed through Child & Family Connections agencies. If you have concerns regarding your child’s development you may connect the agency for an evaluation to see if your child will qualify for services. The primary goal of the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards (IELDS) is to provide a comprehensive resource of reasonable expectations for the development of children in the preschool years (ages 3 to 5) for all teachers across the state of Illinois. All domains or areas of development are included so the focus is on the whole child. These are the skills that your child will work on in preschool. Please review the goals to know what your child is learning and developmentally appropriate for 3-5 years old. These are skills to work on at home and school.
