FEBRUARY 2021

Letter From The President

Dear families and friends of Siena,

With Catholic Schools Week and Lent both occurring in February, the month has been a particularly faith-filled one for Siena Catholic Schools of Racine. Every single one of our schools has been participating in service projects, from letter writing to making toys for a local animal shelter to donating stuffed bears and food. Some classes were able to go to Mass in-person for the first time in months, and our entire community was able to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday.

When people ask what sets Catholic education apart--what sets Siena Catholic Schools of Racine apart--from other schools, I will always go back to our mission to teach as Jesus did. We are the teaching arm of the Catholic Church, the ministry charged with bringing Christ to our students. I am immensely proud of the educators who have chosen this vocation, instilling values alongside an exemplary academic experience.

I hope that you have a grace-filled Lent.

Blessings in Christ,

Brenda White

President, Siena Catholic Schools of Racine

Stuff The Bus!

We are so grateful to each and every one of you who contributed to "Stuff the Bus" to benefit Racine's St. Vincent de Paul Society. Thanks to the generous donations of many, our schools were able to donate 3,926 pounds of food, up from 2,440 in 2020! This is an amazing testament to our families, students, faculty, and staff. God bless you all!

While we couldn't literally stuff a bus due to COVID, many were able to wash hands and help load the truck safely. Amazing!

2021-22 Enrollment

Have you enrolled for 2021-22? Current families have the first round of enrollment by completing one of two steps:

  1. Tuition-paying families should have received, by email, an announcement that the 21-22 Tuition Contract(s) is ready. Parents will be asked to log into Enrollment Management using their username and password, review, and submit a tuition contract for their child(ren). The deadline to digitally submit contracts is Friday, March 5, 2021.

  2. Families that participate in the Racine Parental Choice Program needed to complete their renewal application between February 1-20, 2021, and submit their proof of residency. Though th month of February was the only month that guarantees your child(ren)'s seat in your current school, though there will be opportunities to enroll in March and April, too.

SCHS Counselors Visit Siena Middle Schoolers

The St. Catherine's High School guidance counselors, Jeff Tarkowski, Angela Johnson, and Katie Smith crashed some 8th-grade classrooms at John Paul II Academy, Our Lady of Grace, St. Joseph, St. Lucy, and St. Rita on Wednesday, February 10. Counselors talked about course registration, classes, sports, and clubs available to students. They also discussed what the four-year plan looks like for prospective St. Catherine's students.

Mr. Tarkowski asked if 8th graders planned to attend college one day and every student raised their hand! Many had hoped to attend local UW schools like Milwaukee, Madison, and La Crosse, but others threw out big names like Duke, Brown, and even Harvard! Students learned how they can get accepted to those schools with the help of SCHS counselors and also learned special scholarships that are made available only to St. Cat's students. One of those scholarships, which is new for the fall, will allow a student to go to a school like MSOE for only $500 a year! Students were left paperwork to review with current core teachers and parents before selecting their 9th-grade classes.

The incoming 9th-grade course registration event for current Siena 8th graders will be held on March 10 & 11, 2021. More information will be coming soon as the steps are put in place for a safe and meaningful experience. To schedule a private tour of St. Catherine's, please call (262) 812-0155.
