First you may have a theme in mind, or a special occasion for which you are organising the event. You need to think about a few things before you get started.
How many people can we accommodate?
What type of spaces will we require?
What type of activity will students/teachers respond well to?
What are the cost implications?
Who do we want to invite?
Start by thinking local. Who uses your school facilities from the community? Which groups best reflect the themes that you want to focus on? Are there local langauge schools, community groups, art galleries who might be able to help? Reach out to your local university as they will often have students who are willing to come and deliver a workshop.

Speak to your staff - they may know of presenters, groups or individuals who can come in to deliver.
Speak to your site team and cleaners, especially if you are staying after hours or have special requests for room set up.
Speak to your Sixth Form students - many will be happy to have some volunteering experience to help support with the smooth running of the day.
