Springfield International Charter School (SICS) follows the MA State Standards, using the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Into Reading as the primary English Language Arts Curriculum to meet grade-level goals. During the 2425 school year, SICS K-5 is working to implement the Science of Reading research into our daily practice. Our K-5 faculty is completing a year-long training in Science of Reading in partnership with the HILL for Literacy in understand how kids learn to read, thus meeting our vision statement below.
Since student needs vary, ELA learning targets must be differentiated from student and class-specific goals yet tied to grade-level state standards. Therefore, scope and sequences are not provided for all sub-subject areas of ELA.
