At SICS, K-5 academic progress monitoring and reporting is a systematic approach used to regularly assess and communicate our students' performance in key subjects like ELA and Math.
These ongoing assessments and reports helps track students' progress toward meeting grade-level standards and provide data to inform instruction. It can involve using brief, frequent assessments to measure specific skills over time, allowing teachers to adjust teaching strategies based on student needs.
Assessments and grades are communicated in various ways during the school year.
Families will be notified when their student scores below 70% on an exam or a project.
Families will receive notification of exams or projects via email at least one week prior.
Families will receive 8 official notices of their student’s current grades during the school year- a report card at the end of each quarter and a progress report in the middle of each quarter (see below for dates). These will be sent via regular mail and uploaded into each student’s “E-Locker” on Plus Portals.
Families will be notified of all after-school, weekend, and school vacation tutoring and academic intervention opportunities.
Teachers will keep students’ grades and assignments current on Plus Portals.
Families/ students will check Plus Portals regularly for updates, at least weekly.
Plus, portals are on our website: sics.org, at the top right of our homepage. If you are having trouble accessing Plus Portals, please submit a help ticket using the following link: IT Help Link
Families should actively contact their student’s academic team for questions or concerns.
Encourage students to advocate for themselves and communicate with their academic team when they need help or additional support (depending on age).
Families should review their 8 official grade reports with their students and set goals.
