Finding Fiction on the Library Shelf
Books in the fiction section are shelved alphabetically by the author’s last name.
ABCDEFGHIJLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
Look for the signs on the ends of the shelves that tell you which letters/names are included on that shelf.
The Dewey Decimal System (Nonfiction)
The Dewey Decimal System is what libraries use to organize their nonfiction books. It's a lot easier to find the books you want when you begin to understand the system, because the books are arranged on the library shelves in the order of the Dewey Decimal System.
Nonfiction books are organized first by their number and then by the author's last name. Look the following guide:
