Library Rules, Procedures, & Guidelines
Library books may be checked out from the library for two (2) weeks. After two weeks, books can be renewed for two more weeks. Students with books more than two (2) weeks overdue cannot check out any more books until the overdue books are returned or renewed. Notices for overdue books are provided to students periodically throughout the school year. Students can find out what books they owe at any time by asking the librarian.
The South Hadley School Committee policy for books, equipment, and school materials makes the student responsible for all items issued to them. The School Department will ask for payment or replacement for that particular item or damaged/destroyed property. This includes library books.
Payment will be required for the mending of library materials that have been damaged beyond normal wear and tear. This will include books that have had their labels and protective covers removed, books with covers torn off, water-damaged books, books that are written in, books with broken spines from inappropriate bookmarks (like pencils or erasers), and other similar damages incurred from mistreating or mishandling library materials.
Please do not mend library materials at home -- bring items to the librarian to be fixed at the library.
