Over the Summer
As you read, take notes on details and quotes that would be helpful for completing the task.
One Pager
CP students will complete one one-pager on an 8.5x11 piece of paper.
Honors students will complete one one-pager that has all the required information for each book on the same paper (for example, one book on the top half and one book on the bottom half). This will be done on 11x17 paper which can be gotten in Ms. Lesniak’s room 514.
The focus of the one-pager will be a theme/life lesson that a character discovers as they come of age. This theme/life lesson should be a complete sentence in the center of your one-pager.
In addition you should have the following components…
4-6 images/pictures/designs that demonstrate the theme/life lesson
4-5 cited passages from the book that demonstrate the theme/life lesson
4-5 plot points that help to demonstrate how the theme/life lesson developed
Title and author of the book
Absolutely no blank space (so yes, shade in any spots not filled with images/passages)
Hand-drawn and written - no digital copies or digitally made works
You will not be graded on artistic ability
Paragraph of Explanation
On the back of the one-pager or on a separate sheet of paper, handwrite your response to this prompt: Explain why you chose the images, passages, and plot points you did and briefly explain how they demonstrate the theme/life lesson.
Upon Returning to School
Your one-pagers will be collected on the second day of school and graded for thoughtfulness, thoroughness, and accuracy. This grade will appear in the practice category on PowerSchool.
You will have a couple of discussions about the books in class. Be prepared to participate in the discussions.
You will write an in-class essay based on a prompt given to you by your teacher. You will be able to use your notes. This grade will appear in the assessment category on PowerSchool.
