Young Hackney is the Council's single service for all young people aged 6-19. Their aim is to help all of Hackney's young people to enjoy their youth and become independent successful adults.
Young Hackney's work with COLASP:
Youth Mentoring: We can refer students who would benefit from a one to one youth mentor. This mentor would meet with the student either at school or at home and can offer support for the concerns raised. If you would like a youth mentor from Young Hackney, speak to you ATL and they can explore this with you and your parents.
Young Hackney Substance Misuse Service: This service is open to anyone under the age of 25. It is free and confidential. They can give advice and support if you are worried about your own substance use , or if you are worried that a friend or family member has a problem with drugs or alcohol. We can make a referral for you, after talking to your parent, or you can contact them directly here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1f9wnGowcfFkMaybvlakJrQDzET1EiVxqO8klKq8a0CHJGQ/viewform . You can find more information about this service here: https://www.younghackney.org/advice/drugs-alcohol/young-hackney-substance-misuse-service/
Young Carers: If you find yourself looking after a family member, taking care of housework, translating and/or taking on other responsibilities, Young Hackney wants to help. They can create a personalised plan for you which could include taking part in fun free activities, going on trips, spaces to meet and connect with other Young Carers, and much more. If you are a Young Carer you can either talk to us at school and we can explore this with you and your family to make a referral, or you can contact 020 8356 4800 or email yh.youngcarers@hackney.gov.uk. You can find more information here: https://www.younghackney.org/advice/young-carers/
Tutor Workshops: Young Hackney have come in to run some tutor time workshops. They offer a wide range of topics which we can ask them to run. If you have a particular topic which you would like someone external to do, speak to your ATL and they can see if it is something Young Hackney can come in and do a workshop on.
