Careers

Career development is a lifelong process that begins when children first start to develop interests, form work habits, and explore their world. The goals of career development in the middle school years are to encourage students to discover more about themselves (their interests, abilities, and personality strengths) and to explore the richness of possibilities in the world around them (to be exposed to as much accurate information as possible about education and careers). It is also important that students see connections between skills and work habits learned in school, and how they can apply them to the real world. This rich foundation will make it much easier to make important choices about education and work when the time comes, in high school and beyond.
