Sherwood Cass R-VIII participates in the Title IA program at the K-5 level. Title IA was enacted to provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education and to close educational achievement gaps.
When approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), the plan meets the requirement of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 1112, which states that a local educational agency (LEA) may receive funds under ESEA/ESSA for any fiscal year only if the LEA has on file with the Department a plan for compliance.
The plan shall be approved only if the State determines that the plan:
• Provides that schools served substantially helps children meet the challenging Missouri Learning Standards, and
• Meets all requirements of the Title I.A LEA plan as described in ESEA/ESSA.
For the 2022-23 School Year Sherwood Elementary School will focus on (School-wide Program Plan highlights):
K-5 Math and Reading
Using a mix of early literacy, pull out/resource classroom, push in/regular classroom, and tutoring services (before or after school)
Use funds to employ and provide benefits for two (2) Title Teachers. One (1) teacher will provide reading services, and one (1) teacher will provide math services.
Funding for technology replacement for regular formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and/or instructional use in the classroom. We will also continue our digital subscriptions and acquire materials to assist in the learning process and provide interventions to those students who need them.
