INNOVATION PROJECT
For the innovation project, team members have to find a problem relevant to the theme and solve it. This year's theme is Masterpiece, which focuses on the arts and hobbies.
In the past competition seasons (City Shaper, Replay, Cargo Connect, Superpowered etc.), Shen teams developed solutions to fix everyday problems in their communities. After these seasons ended, teams can continue working on their solutions (e.g., LLAMA challenge https://www.llamasystem.org).
TEGpower+
The CaptiBytes' 2022-23 innovation project used thermoelectric generators(TEGs) to harvest waste heat from daily home appliances, (e.g., clothes driers) and convert that energy back into electricity. The electricity is then used to charge other home appliances, such as cellphones.
What is waste heat? It's exactly what it sounds like it is: It's the heat that is generated but not used for it's intended purpose.
The solution, called the TEGpower+, consists of 4 TEGs, 4 heat sink, duct transitions, and a battery storage.
