At Shenendehowa, we believe that everyone learns best when they are mentally and psychologically available for learning. COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our community’s health, mental wellness, and economic well-being. This resource provides teachers with suggestions for SEL activities that can be used in September. The skills and competencies involved in SEL are proving especially critical for learners right now, as children are pressed to rapidly adjust to the sudden transition in learning environments and structures, often without clear direction–or an end in sight. Learning to manage learning, time and space, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors has never been more pressing.
Please find in each tab activities that will focus on the emotional and developmental needs of our students, and are organized by the five SEL competencies shown in the graphic below:
These activities are designed to be done in-person or virtually by students that are working individually, in pairs, or in a group discussion.
You will also find additional resources and easy access to sites to access as a Virtual Relaxation Space.
