MISSION STATEMENT

The Shelbyville Middle School Choral Department is devoted to the cultivation of choral music in the lives of its students.  In order to accomplish this goal, and to prepare those students for High School endeavors, techniques of musical expression, articulation, intonation, and music reading will be taught.  This sequential developmental music curriculum allows each student an opportunity to build many positive musical experiences.  It is the desire of the entire SMS Music Department to enable individuals to embrace the arts with a passion that will linger throughout life.
