Kristoffer s a researcher at the intersection of science and social policy. He completed his PhD at the University of Nottingham, looking at synthesising core-shell polymer particles in scCO2 via dispersion polymerizations in the Howdle Research Group. In 2022, he moved to Manchester, where he joined the 'One Bin to Rule Them All' project with Professor Mike Shaver, unifying chemistry, economics, and social science to simplify plastic recycling.
He is currently working towards developing a ‘Plastics Hierarchy of Fates’ tool that summarises technical information in a more accessible manner and encourages progress in plastics recycling. The idea is to set out the merits and perils of potential decisions in plastic waste processing and recycling with a forward-looking perspective on maximising circularity.
Nathan is professor of adolescent health and justice at the Department of Sociological Studies, and deputy director of the ESRC Centre for Care. Focusing on the intersection of social policy, criminology, and developmental sciences, Nathan studies the relationship between disability and crime, and its implications for policy and practice.
