Evidence-based policymaking and policy recommendations are often a hallmark of the social policy process. Despite this, there is a disconnect between scientists producing much of the research and evidence needed for policy creation to policy researchers and experts formulating policy recommendations.
Social policy researchers need to understand scientific concepts quickly and accurately to devise evidence-based policy recommendations for policymakers and the scientific researchers need skill to convey their scientific concepts and technologies while also having cognisance of the social implications and opportunities of their research.
This free one-day event is funded by the Social Policy Association's Opportunities Grant and University of Sheffield's Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures.
