Our team member Manasi tried planting some seeds in the kitchen of her student accommodation. Chilli seeds took a while to sprout as it required temperature of 20C and the sunlight. She watered them with warm water and also sprinkled some turmeric powder which was quite helpful for the growth. Turmeric powder helped to keep it safe from insects. For the nutrition, Manasi also supplies the plants with mint and lemon juice.

Manasi also planted some garlic cloves and the chives that were grown enhanced the taste when served as toppings on some of the vegan recipes she likes to cook. She re-used the waste plastic packaging boxes for growing instead of buying a new set-up so this was with zero investment - and good for the environment!
Some spring onions have also started sprouting now and Manasi can't wait to use them in recipes. She has saved and dried some tomato seeds and is planning to sow those too. Kudos to be a part of the SHEFF-Yield project!
