Dr Rob Ward holds a joint academic position between School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. Rob teaches rapid control prototyping to 3rd and 4th year UG students. He is interested in the domains of autonomous control of manufacturing processes (subtractive and additive), digitally connected manufacturing systems, industry 5.0 and operator 5.0 technologies, human-in-the-loop manufacturing, digital twins, autonomous process planning, robotic manufacturing and CNC interpolation. Rob sits on the executive committee for Sheffield Robotics as the co-theme lead for Manufacturing Robotics. He is a Sheffield Co-Lead for the DECSAM ATI Project, Rob leads the closed loop control of LPBF processes theme.
