For several weeks in the summer in 2022, Live Works became a hub for citizen-led climate action in Sheffield, as part of the engagement programme Can Do South Yorkshire, led by South Yorkshire Climate Alliance.
The Urban Room hosted a wide variety of activities, from a free cycle repair workshop to a vegetable-oriented childrens' show!
Central to the activity programme was the sharing of knowledge and skills relating to climate resilience, sustainable food production, recycling and waste reduction at a local neighbourhood scale. The residency was an early experiment in prototyping a 'hub' model for citizen engagement in climate issues, going on to inform later incarnations of the Climate Hub in the Climate ReAssemblies, SADACCA Community Energy and Sheffield Energy Hub projects.
