The University is committed to enhancing the employability of all students. In October 2020 the university launched the mySkills student portfolio. This online tool is designed to be fully inclusive, enabling students to record any activity they feel has contributed to their personal development, not just those that can be formally verified. As well as being accessible to all students, a wider range of activities can be logged in mySkills, including part-time work, volunteering activity and work experience.
Undergraduate students who commenced their studies in academic year 2021/22 should record any extra curricular activities in the mySkills portfolio which can be accessed in Career Connect, available via MUSE. You can use the mySkills portfolio to assess, record, build and reflect on your own skills profile.
https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/skills/myskills
Any undergraduate students who commenced study prior to 2021-22, and are undertaking verifiable extra-curricular activities, need to have their extra-curricular activities verified and uploaded to their HEAR in the usual way for the remainder of their studies.
The Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) is an enhanced transcript that is nationally recognised. It gives you evidence of all your university learning and experience for undergraduate students. Any undergraduate students who commenced study prior to 2021-22, and are undertaking verifiable extra-curricular activities, need to have their extra-curricular activities verified and uploaded to their HEAR for the remainder of their studies. Undergraduate students who commenced their studies in academic year 2021/22 should record any extra curricular activities in the mySkills portfolio
You can find out more about the HEAR on the link below

We all need access to information and the University is committed to providing all students and staff with the freedom and tools they need to get access to the specific information they need, wherever they are, on whichever computer they need to use.
However, we all also have a responsibility to keep this information secure. If personal information and highly confidential research data is not kept secure it could have a negative impact on our work and cause both us and the University’s reputation harm.
You must take all reasonable precautions to safeguard any IT credentials (for example a username and password, email address) issued to you:
You must not allow anyone else to use your IT credentials. No-one has the authority to ask you for your password, and you must not disclose it to anyone.
You must not attempt to obtain or use anyone else’s credentials.
You must not impersonate someone else or otherwise disguise your identity when using the IT facilities.
You must not reuse your University credentials (for example your University username and password) on any external service.

Using passwords on both personal and University computer equipment is an important technique for keeping information secure. Good practice to keep you safe includes:
Use a strong password
Make sure all your computers are protected with a strong password so that your computer cannot be used without entering the password.
Use upper and lower case letters as well as numbers to make your password strong.
Use long passwords - a password of ten characters or more is much stronger than a five or six character password
You can change your University account password at: www.sheffield.ac.uk/it-services/password at anytime.
Lock the screen
When you leave your computer unattended lock the screen or activate a password protected screensaver.
Set the screen saver or lock to come on automatically after five minutes.
PIN protect mobile devices
You must PIN protect any smartphones and tablets that you use for University work.
For instructions on how to password protect your equipment see www.sheffield.ac.uk/it-services/information-security
