If you are applying with your own project, you will need to provide details in a project proposal of what your project will investigate, what new information this will bring to the field, and how you will conduct your research.
Below is a word template that you should use to help write your project proposal. Please attach this to the 'Course Supporting Documents' section of your online application. It is important you try and make your proposal as clear and detailed as possible to allow us to assess whether the research is suitable for a postgraduate research degree.
If you have already contacted a suitable supervisor who is interested in supporting your application, you can work with them to fill in this form, i.e. the word template for your project proposal. If you have not yet been in contact or identified a suitable supervisor, fill in the sections as best you can. You can find more information here on how to write a research proposal.
You will also need to think about how your research will be funded. You will need to have funds in place to cover tuition fees and living expenses as well as any additional running costs for the project (called a fee enhancement). Ideally, you should start planning and investigating funding opportunities at least a year before you want to start your studies. Some information on PhD scholarships can be found here. You will still need to provide evidence that you are eligible to study for a PGR degree as well as your suitability for the project.
