Equal Opportunities in Careers Fund

We are accepting new applications until the 10th July!

Students eligible under the criteria, are able to access up to £300 per academic year, to cover expenses related to an employability opportunity. 

In the past, this has helped students access travel and professional clothing to attend interviews, work shadowing experience as well as attend training courses and conferences relating to their career goals. 

We take every application on a case by case basis, and ask students to explain in detail how the proposed activity will best improve their employability. 

The funding is open for applications in monthly rounds and all students applicable for the funding are contacted via email with the closing dates and application form.

How can I use the 'Equal Opportunities Fund'?

If you have identified with the criteria for the 'Equal Opportunities in Careers' offer, you may feel you face greater barriers when exploring your options after graduation.

To support you in the next steps of your career journey, funding has been generously donated from alumni Rob Pulford First Gen+ Fund, giving you up to £300 a year towards financing employability activities.

What expenses can I claim?

Travel costs - standard public transport wherever possible
Overnight accommodation - up to the value of £75 per night and where return travel the same day is not feasible
Childcare/additional care costs - up to to the value of £60 per day
Appropriate professional clothing - up to the value of £100
Student membership of a professional body
Attendance fee for an event or conference
Fee for a training course
Equipment to help you undertake the activity, including technical equipment and software
Subscription to additional employability resources, eg LinkedIn Premium
