Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patient and Public Involvement (COPD PPI)
This COPD meeting invited practitioners, researchers, managers, patients and carers to share their opinions, thoughts and ideas based on their lived experience of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Broadly we discussed priorities for COPD research, specifically considering two main areas:
Underdiagnosis
Primary care measures for the treatment of COPD (Smoking cessation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Vaccination)
Discussions were rich, in-depth, and reflected the wide range of experiences of all those that attended. Each group discussion has been captured in pictures included in the following pages with a picture representing the whole group summary discussion at the end.
Some Feedback comments:
“Relaxed and an air of informality which led to an open atmosphere which led to be able to voice our experiences as patients and ask questions which were puzzling us.”
“Really enjoyed it-nice and relaxed. Nice mixed groups and enjoyed hearing from patients’ experiences.”
“It was very interesting to listen to other people's problems coping with COPD.”
“Everyone including the facilitator was very encouraging.”
“Keep on researching this lung problem to help patients prevent this condition happening to others.”
“More of these kinds of group discussions.”
