Data-centric manufacturing (DCM) refers to any manufacturing that involves the use of, or collection of, data. It goes hand-in-hand with the term digital manufacturing but here the focus is, as the name suggests, confident and trustworthy use of data.
The AMRC Data-Centric Manufacturing Workflow follows a Trustworthy AI risk-based framework with resources and tools aimed to accelerate and support the adoption of data-driven methods in manufacturing for valuable, actionable insights. All too often data-driven projects do not deliver the expected return on investment for a variety of reasons, our aim is to provide the knowledge and tools to increase the success and confidence in delivering trustworthy data-driven insights to manufacturing. Following the AMRC DCM Workflow supports adherence to international principles and standards in relation to Trustworthy AI.
On these pages, DCM is explored in more detail with links to resources and tools to better understand:
why DCM is important,
the challenges that make DCM difficult,
how success in data-driven projects can be more readily achieved,
how to incorporate best practice,
how to use available tools and,
how to derive more value from investments made in data acquisition and digital manufacturing.
At the AMRC we have developed the DCM workflow to provide resources and guidance to achieve success at every step of a data-driven project.
