ZINE AND DESIGN COMPETITION - FLIP CARD IN BIG
This year students worked in a design competition set up by fellow stuCAN groups. The brief was to design a transitional shelter for climate-related flooding in Brazil that happened earlier this year.
Designed by Linas Rakauskas, Aakash Bala Saravanan Mathialagan, Lucy Taylor, Jade and Adam Ari this transitional shelter focused on quickly deploying shelters for people struck by flooding in Brazil. The scheme looked at a holistic approach with carbon and cost calculations of the materials.
Designed by Reem Taju, Soumya Rana, Hereward Leathart and Zi Enn Wong, this transitional shelter focused on the community creating a home for themselves when resources became available through long-term funding efforts. The project took inspiration from Elemental's 'Villa Verde' half a house concept.
Awarded 'Most Creative Solution'.

Each week, we showcase a resource, event, group or precedent that champions climate action.
This week, we're showcasing Households Declare!, a campaign created by ACAN which is gathering signatures from UK households to demand for a a national retrofit strategy. Our commitment to Net Zero is untenable without a clear, long term strategy for homes, and as 80% of our 2050 housing stock already exists, households must come together, using their collective voice to demand action. Households Declare! also provide links to key resources to help people learn how to retrofit their homes.
