Performing Arts

Year 8 Performing Arts introduces learners to a variety of conventions that can be employed to convey strong ideas. Learners will improvise in a variety of contexts so they can see how to create plenty of positive opportunities in their lives. They will be challenged to keep an open mind as they are introduced to a spectrum of viewpoints. 

Course Focus 

• our 'environment', a ‘sense of place’ and 'where you want to live'  are overarching themes in their work

• how ideas should be investigated, challenged and celebrated in Performing Arts 

• how performance technologies such as lighting, costumes, props, set, sound and audiovisuals can complement student work 

• how short stories, scripts, images and current events provide relevant starting points for scenes
