SHCS Sport Values
The policy for the school follows the guidelines from the Sport NZ Fair Play Scheme and has been adopted by the school. This aims to develop integrity, fairness, and respect for the opposition, team mates and umpires in all sporting activities whether competitive or social.
Aim:
To encourage honesty in the contest.
To expect politeness between all participants.
To develop an acceptance of the results in a good spirit.
To develop a positive self image.
To promote respect for the rules, coaches, opponents, officials and their decisions.
To gain a constructive attitude toward competition.
To develop a sense of dignity under all circumstances.
To allow an equal opportunity for all to learn skills.
To encourage continued participation in sport.
To expect 100% commitment to training and games.
Guidelines:
The principles and practices of Fair Play in Sport will be promoted within the St Hilda’s Collegiate School’s Physical Education and Sports programme.
All coaches, administrators and sporting officials within the school community will be familiar with, and adhere to, the Fair Play principles.
Teachers in Charge of Sport are to enforce the Sport guidelines for their respective sport.
PLAYER CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
During all games, players are expected to:
Play and abide by the rules of the game as instructed by the Tournament Organising Committee and Umpire(s) of the day.
Play the game in a sporting manner.
Not use foul, abusive or insulting language, particularly to other players, officials and spectators.
Accept without argument the decisions of the Umpire(s).
Wear the appropriate uniform for games.
Switch off mobile phones during training and games.
Be organised as a team, turn up by the required time
To limit defaults and to give plenty of notice if the team cannot play (48hours). To do your best to find casual players rather than defaulting
Take any concerns that you have to the Coach, Manager or to the Teacher in Charge.
PARENT/SPECTATOR CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
Be sideline support and lead the cheer
Encourage participation for enjoyment, health and wellbeing
Help nurture your daughters LOVE for sport and physical activity.
Praise effort and value over outcomes
Emphasise development of life skills over what team they make
Focus on skill development over performance
Display self control on the sideline
Respect all officials and opposition
Respect coaches philosophy and choices
Use appropriate and acceptable language
