The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle 

Hello Mrs. Baker's First Grade Class!

Here is a great project idea based on Eric Carle's book called, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.    He created images from designed pieces of paper and assembled them into images for his storybooks and artwork.  This method is called collage.  Students will be creating their own creature with pre-designed papers in the form of a collage this year.

If you have a rainy day and want something fun to do, try this challenge below:

All in one outdoor scene include the following:

Draw something BIG, and something small,

Something short and something tall,

something from Spring and something from Fall,

a beautiful house and maybe a tree or wall,

and add some color until you finish it all!

Fun drawing challenge if you feel you are up to the challenge:

I am asking you to think about a problem Santa might have this year...his reindeer are all sick, and he has to find another set of creatures to pull his sleigh.

Can you help him by drawing a picture of your solution of those creatures in flight?

I would love to see them too so I set up a portfolio in Mrs. Baker's ClassDojo where you can share them!
