At Southern Middle School, our students continuously uphold the 5 pillars of the National Junior Honor Society. The five pillars are Character, Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Citizenship are part of our daily lives both in and out of school.
It is important to know that the current members must continue to maintain the 90% average to remain a member of our organization throughout each trimester of the school year as well as demonstrating excellent citizenship as a student. Acceptance into NJHS is not solely based on grades, it also includes conduct both inside and outside of our buildings. Discipline infractions are taken into account during the application review.
If your child is interested in becoming a member of this organization, the following questions are used during the selection process.
1. Does the student meet the 5 pillars of National Junior Honor Society?
2. Does the student meet the academic criteria of a 93% average for each trimester?
3. Did the student complete 5 volunteer hours?
Please Note: If you answered yes to the above 3 questions, this does NOT guarantee admission into NJHS. The applications will be reviewed by the Faculty Council based on the requirements set forth by the National Junior Honor Society.
