In 5th grade we use the Eureka Math Series: A Story of Units. Each lesson will begin with a review of previous skills taught and move into an application problem using these concepts. We will walk through the application problems as a whole and use large group teaching in introducing the new skill. Students will then be asked to implement the new knowledge on an exit ticket, which will allow me to determine their grasp and understanding of what was taught. They will then complete a series of problems using this new concept both independently and in small groups as needed.

Below are the concepts and units taught throughout the year. Under each topic there is a link for you to use for extra explanation of the skill, sample problems and a video of what and how the student is taught the concept. (This will be extra helpful for those moments they say "But that's not what Mrs. Gomm taught us!" Trust me been there, done that!). Also there is a link attached above for you to locate directions on how to create a free parent account on the Eureka Math website for additional resources.
