Dirty Dog? Shake It Off!
Let the groomer come to you. Mobile grooming can be less stressful for dogs, it ensures one-on-one care. No other dogs will be in the salon to upset your dog. No car travel required. The environment is positive and holistic. Safe, gentle products are selected based on your dogs skin and coat needs. Your pup is the center of attention and treated like family. All dogs will be handled according to their tolerance and comfort level.
I work with every dog for as long as they are physically and emotionally comfortable with the grooming process. It is not a rush job; breaks are sometimes needed to let the dog adjust during our short visit.
Your dog will be safely confined within the mobile grooming salon, not caged or crated. No cage dryers.
In my experience, the drying or nail-clipping process are most stressful for dogs. It could be the fear of unknown, dislike of paws touched, or stem from a bad grooming experience. Becoming familiar with you and your dog and building a trusting foundation is an important part of the continuum of care.
I will not medicate or sedate any dog, even if requested. If your dog has anxiety that requires medication, please consult your vet for a plan prior to your appointment.
About me
I planned for a dog park specializing in dog agility and sports. Dog grooming wasn’t the plan. I had no idea how much joy grooming would be. A friend is a second-career mobile groomer and she needed help. I shadowed her a few times and fell in love with grooming. Working with dogs is fun and comforting for me. I felt like I was helping family members with a necessary task that they did not consider fun (my view of washing dishes, ugh).
My friend’s request came at a turning point in my career. I was ready to leave IT and office chaos. I started searching for employment elsewhere. My love of all things dogs just kept calling. I completed courses while working full-time. I started grooming pets of family and friends to gain experience. And continued to training with my friend whenever possible; She is a great mentor and resource! My search for employment elsewhere panned out but so did my plan to start my own business!
The business name came from a memorable, life-long statement. Growing up, I was involved in many activities - softball, volleyball, band, cheerleading, bowling. One of my favorite memories is my parents in the stands, supporting me and my sisters. When there was a bad hit, bruise, or mistake, my family or team would yell “shake it off”. Talking to my family about the office situation resulted in one of those “shake it off” pep talks. When bathing my border collie, I kept saying “shake it off” and that catchy tune was playing in the background like a subliminal message. My sisters and I joked that the mobile grooming unit would play music like an ice-cream truck. There is room for upgrades on the mobile salon.
I am enjoying both careers and will continue to focus on both. As for activities, I bowl with my sister and mom. I also enjoy pickleball, MS hill biking (aka mountain biking), scuba diving, and reading. There is balance so I will continue to “do what I love and love what I do” for as long as the good Lord lets me!
