Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Oklahoma State Department of Education may be releasing school district report cards later this fall. Shady Grove School’s priority is to provide every student with the best possible education with the available resources. Shady Grove School will receive an A through F grade report based on the Oklahoma School Testing Program’s Spring 2025 testing.
The A through F Report Card was established to reflect an individual school and school district’s performance in an easy-to-understand report. Whether Shady Grove maintains our “B+” or gets an “A” or even falls below a “C”, the following graph reflects the basics of grading that we and you will understand on a daily basis for each of your students in what every grade level they are enrolled:
Child’s Report Card
Your child’s grade is based on daily work, quizzes, tests, and assignments given over a period of time. Each and every classroom activity is averaged to determine the students’ quarterly grade.
School District Report Card
The school’s report card is based on one 60-90 minute period of time that a child performs on a state mandated test. The tests were given in Reading and Math, in grades 3-8. Grades 5 and 8 also took a writing test and a science test. It appears that Shady Grove’s grade is based on students who spent 360 minutes on the state test, which is approximately one whole school day of instruction.
Shady Grove uses different strategies, based on research, that allow students with individual needs to improve academically. We use different assessments throughout the school year to evaluate how our students are achieving compared to our curriculum pacing calendars and also to let you know your student’s achievement levels quarterly. As noted above, our School’s grade report is based on “one day”, not the school year in whole. Additional information is available at https://oklaschools.com/district/11C026/reports .
Sincerely,
Emmett Thompson, Superintendent
