Grading Criteria:
Students will be graded based on their effort, behavior, performance, attitude, participation, and sportsmanship during each unit. It is not about how well the student plays, but their participation and willingness to help the team. A positive attitude and effort will result in a good grade.
Units:
Each unit will be worth 25 points, with the majority of these points based on participation, behavior, and sportsmanship. It also includes the expectations outlined in the previous slide. There are approximately 5-6 units per quarter, and each unit resets with a new 25-point evaluation.
Behavior:
Regarding behavior, the first time a student is corrected, they will lose 5 points from their unit grade. If the behavior continues, they will receive a mark on their choice card. A third reminder will result in the student being sent to the principal, and their parents will receive a detailed email about the behavior in class.
Participation/Behavior (10 points)
Active engagement in all activities and drills.
Students are expected to participate fully and demonstrate effort in class.
Showing enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and improve.
Sportsmanship (5 points)
Demonstrating respect and support for classmates and opponents.
Encouraging others, displaying a positive attitude, and following the rules of fair play.
Handling wins and losses gracefully.
Effort (5 points)
Putting forth maximum effort in all activities and striving to improve personal performance.
Taking initiative to participate and assist teammates during practices and games.
Showing perseverance and a positive attitude even when faced with challenges.
Skill Development (5 points)
Progression in individual skills related to various sports and activities taught in class.
Ability to demonstrate and apply skills effectively during practices and games.
Improvement over time, showing growth in physical capabilities and understanding of the activities.
Total Points: Each unit will be graded out of 25 points, with emphasis on participation and sportsmanship.
Behavior: Adherence to classroom expectations and positive behavior will also impact grades, with specific consequences for repeated behavioral issues.
This grading criteria aims to foster a supportive environment that encourages students to develop their physical abilities while promoting teamwork, respect, and healthy competition.
