Be Prepared
Wear appropriate PE attire: tennis shoes, acceptable t-shirt, shorts (long enough), socks. No boots, jewelry, or inappropriate clothing.
If a student is not dressed properly, parents may be contacted to ensure correct attire for the next class.
Show Good Sportsmanship & Positive Attitude
Display good sportsmanship and a positive attitude in all units. Winning is not the main focus; participation and effort are key.
Include everyone, regardless of their skill level.
Respect Equipment
Treat all equipment with care. If any equipment is intentionally damaged, parents will be expected to replace it.
All equipment is to be used appropriately during the activities.
Follow Instructions
After entering the gym, complete the warm-up laps and sit in your assigned seat to listen for instructions.
Be quiet and attentive when the teacher is explaining the rules and directions.
Engage and Participate
Participation is a major part of the grade. Every student is expected to make an effort in all activities and help their team. Standing aside or showing a negative attitude will affect grades.
Respect Classmates
No making fun of, putting down, or using negative talk toward others.
Be supportive of peers as everyone is learning and improving together.
Effort, Performance, & Attitude
Students will be graded on effort, performance, attitude, participation, and sportsmanship. Effort and positive engagement with the activity are the most important factors for grading, not athletic ability.
Behavior
The first behavioral correction results in losing 5 points from the unit grade.
A second warning leads to a mark on the choice card.
A third warning will result in being sent to the principal, and parents will be notified with a detailed explanation of the behavior.
