How To Guide
Flipgrid is a great FREE tool for communicating with students. This comprehensive step by step guide will take you through the process of setting up an account, making a grid, and sharing it with students. A couple of things to remember:
A Grid is the overarching 'class'. You can create several Topics within the Grid for different subjects or topics. For example: Grid=Mrs. Stellato's class. Topics may be: Math, Writing, Video Journal, Check In, etc.). I recommend having one Grid per class with multiple subjects within that grid.
You can share your grid by copying and pasting the URL to Google Classroom, Remind, and email or however you communicate with your students. (page 4)
Create your account by logging in with Google (page 3)
When you create a Grid set it up by School Domain which is sgfcsd. If you want the grid open to the public (those without sgfcsd domain emails) then you must select Public. (page 4)
When you are finished using the grid or topic you can 'freeze' it so no one else can respond. (page 9)
You can enable video monitoring if you want to view a video submitted by a student before it is live on the grid for other members to see (page 7)
Don't hesitate to reach out for help.
Step 1: Record your video somewhere outside of Flipgrid. That could be on your cell phone, with a tool like Screencastify, or even open an empty Google Meet and hit record!
Step 2: Upload that video to your YouTube Channel and copy the link to share the video. (15 mins)
Step 3: Put the link to your video in your topic on FlipGrid using the YOUTUBE option.
