Infographics

The infographic gives a very general overview of some of the major reasons women are discouraged to pursue education around the world. Because while developing countries are more likely to be affected by these factors, they are rooted in a deeply held patriarchal way of thinking which pervades even the most developed countries. The overall work is a summary of the reasons one can refer to when considering what puts women at a disadvantage when getting an education.

We wanted to work on something that highlighted both the barriers that women face in getting an education, as well as the importance of removing these. Although it’s the 21st century, many women, particularly in developing countries, don’t have the access to education that they should. If they do, they tend to be ridiculed and bullied due to cultural and societal norms in their communities. Through the infographic, we hope to show people why it’s important for everyone to get involved in any way that they can — so that women everywhere have a chance to be who they want to be.
