Department of Botany

The Botany Department, established in 1990, is one of the leading departments in Vidarbha, Maharashtra in the field of teaching and research. It has completed 33 years successfully with excellence in academics and research, imparting knowledge from the basics to frontline areas in plant sciences. It offers specializations in Plant Tissue Culture, Reproductive Biology of Angiosperms and Bioinformatics, The Department has organized two International and four National conferences, wherein notable academicians and researchers had participated. The Department is also involved in extension activities and innovation in specialized areas as Cytogenetics, Molecular Biology, Plant Systematics, Aerobiology, Biotechnology and Plant taxonomy. The teaching faculty of the department are involved in continuing projects funded by UGC, DST, MOEF etc. to contribute to the academic progression in the subject. It is a matter of great pride that the Department of Botany hosted an National and International conferences in collaboration with esteemed academic organization viz., IAAT, IAS. The faculty of the department worked under various capacities.

The theme of the three-day conference is 'Synergy in Plant Science and a Sustainable Future'. Besides the presidential address and felicitation of distinguished botanists for exceptional lifetime services towards the advancement of teaching and research in Plant Sciences, there will be four medal award lectures, two memorial award lectures, and two award contest sessions. There shall be eight concurrent sessions for the presentation of original research papers and posters.
