The Indian Botanical Society had its inception in a resolution passed by the Botany Section of the Indian Science Congress at the Nagpur meeting in January, 1920. A Committee of organisation was consequently formed to carry this resolution into effect. This Committee consisted of the late Dr. P. Bruhl of the University College of Science, Calcutta, the late Rai Bahadur K. Rangachariar of the Agricultural College, Coimbatore, the late Rai Bahadur Prof. Shiv Ram Kashyap of the Government College, Lahore, the late Prof. Birbal Sahni, then of the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Dr. W. Burns, then of the College of Agriculture, Poona and the late Dr. Winfild Dudgeon of the Ewing Christian College, Allahabad, with Dr. Dudgeon as ChairmanÂ
Membership of the Indian Botanical Society
Membership of the society is open to students, research scholars, teachers and scientists interested in botanical sciences. The annual membership is: Rs. 300/- for renewal of the current year subscription and Rs. 350/- for new entrants; life membership is Rs. 4050/-. Membership dues may be sent through a bank draft drawn in favour of the Treasurer, Indian Botanical Society, Bareilly and sent to Prof. Alok Srivastava, Treasurer - IBS, Department of Plant Sciences, MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly-243006 (U.P.); email: (alokplantsciences@gmail.com). Fellowship for the Indian Botanical Society (F.B.S)
Life members who have completed at least 5 years of standing are eligible to apply for fellowship of the Society. Interested members are requested to send soft copy of the application as per the given proforma for consideration by July 31st, 2023 to the Secretary, IBS at (secretaryibs2017@gmail .com) The applicants if found suitable shall be issued a Fellowship Certificate of F.B.S on the payment of requisite fee of Rs. 1500/- during the conference only.
