At St Francis Xavier Catholic Sixth Form College, we care deeply about supporting the mental health of our students. We also understand we can only do this effectively in partnership with their parents and carers. Please explore the resources and advice on this site to find out ways you can help support the mental health of your child while they are studying with us.
Support Available in College
We can provide support for our students most effectively when they are in college.
Here are some of the ways in which we ensure St Francis Xavier Catholic College is a safe, supportive environment.
Student Wellbeing Forum
Our student wellbeing forum is lead by Amy Stanford, our Wellbeing Ambassador. The forum is a safe space where students talk about their concerns freely, as well as exploring strategies to help them cope with the challenges they face. The forum aims to support students to be the best versions of themselves!
Director of Faculty - Student Wellbeing
Aaron Takyi is the member of senior staff who leads our student wellbeing offer. He is passionate about ensuring all students get the emotional support and develop the mental skills required to succeed in their studies and their wider lives.
Jennifer is our Student Welfare Officer. She works in college and with external agencies to ensure our students struggling with serious mental health or emotional wellbeing issues are safe and accessing the support they need.
Student Welfare Officer
We have a team of Mental Health First Aiders at the college. These members of teaching and non-teaching staff are fully trained to support a person experiencing a mental health crisis. They are knowledgeable about routes to access further support if appropriate.
